TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators have summoned the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) president director Djarot Kusumayakti for questioning over sugar import quota bribery at CV Semesta Berjaya.
“The investigators question [Djarot] as witness of IG [Irman Gusman],” KPK spokeswomen Yuyuk Andriati Iskak told Tempo Thursday, September 29, 2016.
Irman Gusman has allegedly received Rp100 million bribe from the president director of CV Semesta Berjaya Xaveriandy Sutanto to sway Bulog into increasing sugar import quota to the CV Semesta Berjaya.
In preliminary interrogation of Djarot, the KPK presented a recorded conversations between Irman and Djarot as evidence. The recording revealed that Djarot reallocated Jakarta’s sugar quota to West Sumatra.
Irman’s defense lawyer Razman Arief Nasution confirmed that Irman and Djarot did talk about the sugar quota reallocation to West Sumatra. He argued that Irman called Djarot to ask for confirmation on soaring sugar price.
The reallocation of sugar quota to West Sumatra was allegedly made upon request by Irman, the then Regional Representative Council (DPD) speaker. Irman has been dismissed from his post.
