TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Listed freight transportation company Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi (IDX: HITS) has bought an oil tanker with 45.000 DWT capacity for US$11.5 million.
Humpuss said in its publication that the purchase was made by parent company Hutama Trans Kencana, through a memorandum of agreement with Asahi Tanker Co. Ltd and Solar Shipping & Trading S.A.
Humpuss corporate secretary Daryono said the tanker will be used to carry crude oil from exploration areas to Pertamina's refineries.
"We joined the tender and Pertamina requires us to have a tanker first," he said on Friday, Sept. 23, Bisnis Indonesia reported.
He said the contract with Pertamina has a long term of five to 10 years. He didn’t say how much the contract is worth.
Last year, HITS bought a unit of LNG Shuttle Tanker with 20.000 DWT capacity for US$20 million. The tanker will be used to carry gas from Bontang to power plans in Bali. The gas freight contract is worth Rp1.3 trillion and has a period of seven years.
