TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned the House’s Infrastructure Commission deputy chairperson Yudi Widiana Adia of the Prosperous and Justice Party (PKS) over alleged bribery in road construction project of the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry in Maluku.
“Yudi has been summoned to be questioned as witness for suspect ATT [Andi Taufan Tiro],” said acting KPK Public Relations chief Yuyuk Andriati Iskak via a text message on Monday, September 19, 2016. Taufan has allegedly received Rp7.4 billion in bribes from businessman Abdul Khoir—who had been vying for the project.
Yudi’s role was revealed by So Kok Seng alias Aseng, a commissioner of PT Cahaya Mas Perkasa, Abdul Khoir’s partner in the road project. Appearing as a witness before Jakarta Court for Corruption Crimes in April 2016, Aseng revealed the money trail to Yudi.
According to Aseng, Yudi received Rp2.5 billion to secure the project in Maluku. The money was handed over through Kurniawan, Yudi’s partner in the PKS, also a councillor in Bekasi City Council.
Yudi had previously been questioned on numerous occasions as a witness in this case. He had also denied taking bribes. “I did not accept the bribes,”he said after being questioned by the KPK in April 2016.
The case has unraveled after the arrest of the then-member of the House’s Infrastructure Commission Damayanti Wisnu Putranti of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) on January 13, 2016. Damayanti had recently said Yudi was aware of the bribes for the Infrastructure Commission in this case.
A day after Damayanti’s arrest, the KPK investigators searched her office and those of her two colleagues: members of the Infrastrucure Committee from Golkar Party Budi Supriyanto and Yudi Widiana. Budi has already been indicted in the case.
