TEMPO.CO, Nusa Dua - Counter-terrorism measures will be one of the main topics to be discussed at the 85th Interpol General Assembly in Nusa Dua, Bali, scheduled for November 7 to 10.

Chief of the State Police Tito Karnavian said after holding a preparation meeting and inspecting the Assembly venue in Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Thursday, that other than terrorism, the issue of international crime will also figure in the General Assembly dialogue.

The international crimes that will be discussed include illegal drugs, cybercrime, fraud and illegal fishing.

Thousands of participants from 190 countries across the globe will be attending the Assembly.

"There will be a special panel (on the issue of counter-terrorism) and I will be there as one of the speakers," Karnavian, a former Chief of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency, added.

He also informed that his party will pull out all stops to ensure the success of the General Assembly. It will ensure the security of all delegates and international government officials who will be attending the event as well.

"Indonesia is the second country, after China, with the largest police force, comprising 430,000 personnel," he revealed.

Meanwhile, head of the Police Headquarters International Relations, Ketut Untung Yoga, underlined that various stakeholders will cooperate to put in place proper counter-terrorism measures and enforce the law in case of international crimes.

"Not will the police force strive to do that, but all related Ministries and entities will also make efforts to take preventive measures and minimize risk of threats, including terrorism," assured the former Bali Police Chief.

The preparation meeting held in Nusa Dua involved the state police headquarters, the Bali provincial police, the immigration offices, customs, airport authorities and health boards.
