TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Trade Ministry promoted commodity potentials in a number of Indonesian provinces to the Chinese government during the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and the 13th China-ASEAN Business & Investment Summit (CABIS).
“We realize that China is one of Indonesia’s largest partners in trade,” Arlinda, Trade Ministry’s director general of the national export development said on Monday, September 12, 2016.
Arlinda met Li Bin, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), at the event held in Guangxi, on September 11-14, 2016.
CAEXPO and CABIS were held by the China’s Trade Ministry in collaboration with trade ministries of 10 Southeast Asian countries. Arlinda explained that Indonesia has a huge potential in mining and plantation sectors. Among commodities available in Indonesia, she revealed, were coal, CPO and coffee.
“We have 32 coffee varieties,” Arlinda claimed.
she also promoted that oil palm plantations can be found in Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi. Kalimantan is also one of the country’s rubber producers. Meanwhile, nickel and lead can be found in Sumatra, Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua. Kalimantan and Sumatra are also Indonesia’s coal-rich regions.
