TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Health Minister Nila F Moeloek said so far, Zika virus is not deadly and its spread is different from the spread of dengue fever (DHF) in Indonesia.
"I think a patient infected by Zika virus in Malaysia who died was not caused by Zika virus, but he must have had complications with other diseases," said Nila in Lebak, Sunday.
Nila added that the disease is actually categorized as a mild disease and is not deadly, but it can be dangerous if exposed to pregnant women as she will give birth to a baby with microcephaly.
Nila added that Zika virus wis harmless when compared with dengue fever and dengue fever can be very deadly if the patients do not get medical assistance immediately.
