Police Search Makassar University Campus over Corruption Case

TEMPO.CO, Makassar - South Sulawesi Police corruption investigators have searched several rooms at the campus of Makassar State University (UNM) in connection with corruption in the construction of an integrated laboratory of the university’s Faculty of Engineering.
“We want to compliment the evidence to speed up the case dossier handover to the prosecutors’ office,” Deputy Director for Corruption Case, South Sulawesi Police Special Crime Directorate, Adj. Sr. Comr. Adib Rodjikan said Tuesday evening.
The investigators have named two suspects in the Rp40 billion project. The suspects are identified with intials of ERW as a project partner and an official at the UNM with the intials of JA.
Investigation is being made since the laboratory’s specifications were not met. Moreover, the project was failed to be completed on schedule, i.e. December 2015.
Vice President for Administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs of UNM, Karta Jayadi said he welcomes measures taken by police. “We want a speedy resolution of the case,” Karta said.
According to Karta, the police search is a must to complete the suspects’ dossier. “It’s normal and legitimate,” Karta added.
