TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director General of Teachers and Education Workers, the Education and Culture Ministry, Sumarna Surapranata has ensured that the professional allowance budget cut will not lead to reduced teacher’s allowance. “The cut has been made because some teachers have retired or been transferred,” he told Tempo, Friday, August 26, 2016.
According to Pranata, retirement, and transfer of teachers that occurred annually has an implication for the absorption of funds in the form of budget surplus (silpa) at the regional level.
He has also ensured that teacher’s professional allowance (TPG) at the regional level may not be allocated for any other program. The budget surplus may only be used to pay the following year’s TPG.
In addition, Pranata has ensured that TPG for non-civil servant staff will not be affected. The fund is still allocated for the Directorate General of Teachers and Education Workers in the state budget, including incentives for non-civil servant teachers.
Finance Ministry had planned to cut the TPG by Rp23.4 trillion. The plan has been realized in the 2016 state budget. The cut has been made to lower the amount of fund transfer to the region by Rp70.1 trillion.
