TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung has called on foreign countries, including Turkey, to respect the law in Indonesia in response to a request made by the Turkish government to shut down nine schools allegedly being affiliated with Fethullah Gullen.

According to Pramono, Indonesia is a country that upholds free and active foreign policy.

"We certainly don't want our domestic affairs to be interfered by others," Pramono said in Jakarta on Friday, July 29, 2016.

Pramono said that any affairs governed by the law and approved by the government would be a part of the state sovereignty.

Earlier, the Turkish government through the Turksih Embassy to Indonesia called on the Indonesian government to shut down nine schools for allegedly being linked with Fethullah Gulen organization. The Turkish government accused Gulen of plotting a failed coup against the government.

In addition to Indonesia, the Turkish government had called on other countries to shut down schools allegedly linked with the FETO terrorist organization, namely Jordan, Azerbaijan, Somalia and Nigeria.

The Turkish government has also sent a request to close Gulen lectern in State Islamic University (UIN) in Ciputat, South Tangerang after receiving information related to lectern from the Indonesian Religious Affairs Ministry.
