TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto on Thursday, July 28, 2016 has estimated furniture and wood export value would be able to reach US$5 billion in the next five years.
According to Airlangga, the development of state's furniture industry has been improving in the past few years; totally, the export value of national wood and rattan furnitures reaches $1.8 billion. The number raised to $1.9 billion in 2014 and went higher to $2 million in 2015.
He asserted that in supporting the development of national furniture and handicraft, a synergized policy is needed to reach incorporated Indonesia, particularly throughout the furniture and handicraft industries.
Airlangga added that players of the furniture and handicraft industries are required to have sense of aggresiveness and nasionalism, meaning that they should be strong, as well as giving priority to national interest in facing increasingly fierce competitions.
