TEMPO.CO, Cilacap-Firing squad personnel assigned for the third round of executions have arrived in Nusakambangan prison island. As many as eight large buses arrived at Holcim Dock in Cilacap, Central Java at around 2:30 p.m. The Attorney General Office (AGO) has prepared 168 personnel to carry out the execution on Thursday, July 28, 2016.
“The executions [will be carried out] tonight,” one of security officers, who refused to be named, told Tempo on Thursday, July 28, 2016.
In addition local people have been prohibited to go near the dock until Friday, July 29, 2016. The restriction will be revoked on Saturday.
“But it depends on the executions. In an event of rain, the executions will be postponed, according to the regulation,” he added.
National Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Martinus Sitompul said that the National Police had prepared 300 Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel to help with the executions. As many as 14 convicts are on the list of the third round of executions. A firing squad team for each convict consists of 12 personnel.
Death convicts to be executed are Ozias Sibanda and Fredderikk Luttar from Zimbabwe; Obina Nwajagu bin Emeuwa, Seck Osmane, Humprey Ejike a.k.a. Doctor, Michael Titus Igweh, Okonkwo Nongso Kingsley, and Eugene Ape from Nigeria.
Other convicts are Freddy Budiman, Agus Hadi, Pujo Lestari bin Sukatno, and Merry Utami from Indonesia, Zulfiqar Ali from Pakistan; and Gurdip Singh from India. Zufiqar Ali’s wife Siti confirmed that her husband will be executed on Saturday.
