TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister special staff Arif Budimanta expressed optimism that the tax amnesty program would repatriate Rp1,000 trillion (US$77 billion) by 2017.
“It is expected that the repatriated fund will reach Rp 1,000 trillion by next year,” Arif told Tempo during a discussion in Central Jakarta on Saturday, July 23, 2016.
Arif said that the government would need at least Rp 4,900 trillion (US$377 billion) to realize its development programs. In addition, Arif revealed that the tax amnesty program would benefit the country in terms of the capital inflow.
Arif added that the funds would also be used to improve the country’s competitiveness, realize sustainable prosperity, and develop infrastructures and manufacturing industries.
Therefore, Arif called on public to look at the tax amnesty program in a wider perspective. Arif also viewed that public’s enthusiasm over the tax amnesty program was quite high, as more than 4,000 people attended the program dissemination in Medan.
