TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State power company PT PLN ensures there will be no alternate blackouts in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara during this year's Eid al-Fitr.
PLN general Ricard Safkaur made sure that what happened in last year's Eid will not happen this year.
On Thursday, June 30, 2016, Ricard told reporters that in 2015 PLN experienced power deficits right before the Eid because of a broken steam power plant in Bolok. The power deficit forced PLN to shut supplies that resulted in blackouts.
This year, he said that PLN's electricity supplies for Kupang and nearby areas are more than enough, so there will be no blackouts. "For the Eid, PLN has an excess supply of 15 MW," Ricard said.
If powers go out, it would be because of other factors such as weather. Kupang is currently experiencing strong winds.
