TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan requested PT Angkasa Pura II (AP) not make statements on the readiness of Terminal 3 Ultimate of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Jonan stated that Terminal 3 Ultimate is not and will not be ready before Eid al-Fitr.
"Tell AP, if they don't understand the issue, don't make any statements," Jonan said on Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung previously stated that Angkasa Pura II had claimed that Terminal 3 Ultimate is ready to be operated.
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo himself had said that he wanted the terminal to be ready for this year's homecoming season.
On the other hand, Jonan claimed that Terminal 3 Ultimate still lacking many things. One of the flaws according to Jonan was the absence of navigational equipment. In addition, Jonan pointed out that the terminal’s plane refueling system still relies on tanker trucks instead of direct fuelling hose.
"If the airport serves one plane every hour, it would be okay to use tanker trucks. But if it serves 1,000 planes a day like Soekarno-Hatta, I will not give permission [to use tanker trucks]," Jonan said.
