TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama ensured that all health centers and hospitals in Jakarta are safe from fake vaccine distributions.
"Hospitals and health care spread in the city of Jakarta is guaranteed to be safe from fake vaccines," Ahok said in City Hall on Tuesday, June 28, 2016.
Ahok had also asked the Jakarta Health Agency to give firm sanctions toward hospitals or health care caught selling fake vaccines.
Ahok believed that anyone who caught distributing fake vaccines must be given a severe punishment.
Meanwhile, Jakarta Health Agency Chief Koesmedi Priharto said that the Agency will continue to check vaccines being used by private hospitals throughout Jakarta.
"So far, the vaccines used by hospitals originate from Biofarma manufacturer. We are double checking for fake vaccines that are not manufactured by Biofarma. If something suspicious comes up, we will directly submit it to the [Drug and Food Supervisory Agency]," said Ahok.
