TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) through government-owned rehabilitation institutions and communities have rehabilitated as many as 42,429 drug addicts, abusers and victims of drug abuse all over Indonesia.
From the that number, 2,500 of them were rehabilitated in large halls managed by BNN rehabilitation centers located in Lido, Bogor and Baddoka, Makassar, Tanah Merah in Samarinda and Batam in the Riau Islands, said BNN Head Commissioner General Police Budi Waseso on Sunday.
"In the meantime, in terms of reducing drug circulation through eradicating drugs, in the period 2015 to June 2016 we have disclosed as many as 1,015 cases of 72 narcotics syndicates," Budi said.
With some 1,681 suspects that have been named, BNN has also uncovered money laundering of narcotics with the value of assets confiscated worth Rp142,058 billion, he added.
Meanwhile, evidence of narcotics seized is shabu-shabu (meth) weighing 2.8 tons, 707,864 ecstasy pills, 4.1 tons of hashish and marijuana land area covering 69 hectares.
