TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Transport's Head for Communications and Public Relations, Hemi Pamurahardjo said that the Transport Ministry will not review the readiness of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport's Terminal 3 Ultimate until the Eid al-Fitr holiday has passed.
"We will review and verify the readiness of the Terminal once we are done dealing with the surge of passengers during the 2016 Ramadan Homecoming season," said Hemi at the Ministry of Transport Building in Jakarta on Saturday, June 25, 2016 - before adding that the Ministry will be focusing on its' 2016 Homecoming Season programs, which will last until July 17, 2016.
Hemi said that doing so will allow the Ministry to focus its' effort to provide better services for Homecoming passengers, which will also benefit state-airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II - in that it will give them more time to meet the Ministry's standard operating requirements.
Terminal 3 Ultimate's operation have been postponed for the time being because the Ministry have found several flaws that Angkasa Pura II has yet to address by the previous deadline, which was set on June 16, 2016. For example, the back-up power system has yet to be fully functional, which could hamper the operations of the Terminal's day-to-day operations if a power outage occurs.
Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Rizal Ramli has called on the Transport Ministry to immediately review the readiness of Terminal 3 - following an inspection to the newly expanded Terminal. Ramli said that he believes that the Terminal's infrastructures, as well as its' electricity back-up systems are ready to support the operation of the Terminal.
