TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Wayan Mirna Salihin’s murder case has entered a new phase. The murder suspect , Jessica Kumala Wongso, will be tried after the prosecutor office declared Jessica’s dossier complete (P21). “After another review, the dossier has been declared complete,” General Crime Assistant of Jakarta Prosecutor Office M. Nasrun said yesterday.

Nasrun said Jessica’s dossier has been declared complete after the prosecutors examine its completeness and the evidence in hand. As such, the prosecutors may submit the dossier to the court. Jessica’s trial is expected to be held next month after inclusion on the court’s agenda. “It will be submitted to the court as soon as possible,” he said.

Mirna’s death at Olivier Cafe, Grand Indonesia on Jan. 6, has dragged Jessica into the investigation. Police is convinced that Jessica, Mirna’s fellow student at Billy Blue College of Design, Sydney, Australia, was the one who poured cyanide into Vietnamese iced coffee that she ordered before Mirna’s arrival. The coffee has been confirmed to have caused Mirna to having a seizure that lead to her death.

Krishna said the investigators will submit over 37 evidence along with other documents, including CCTV footage at Oilivier Cafe. Confiscated items and forensics lab results will also be gathered and submitted in the second hand over of evidence materials to the court. “Then, we will see what happen in the court,” he said.

Jessica’s defense lawyer, Hidayat Bustom, considers the dossier as incomplete. He said it does not prove Jessica’s involvement in Mirna’s death. The CCTV footage does not show that Jessica had moved her hand to pour cyanide into Mirna’s coffee, he said. There was also no one witnessed the incident. “We are ready to attend the trial and raise a defense.”
