TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The West Jakarta District Court Judges have sentenced Nigerian-born Arinze Petrus Enze to a 20-years in jail over a drug case. Chief Judge Bambang Budi Mursito said Arinze is proven to be guilty.
“It is based on formal evidence and witness, as well as judge observation,” Bambang said in the hearing at West Jakarta District Court on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.
The sentence imposed is as a warning that Indonesia is a country that opposes narcotics distribution.
Bambang said Arinze along with other witnesses, Rozali Padjar and Dede Rosa, are proven to be in possession of crystal meth, which is listed under Category I in Regulation No.35/2009.
Arinze has been accused of possessing 6.3kg of crystal meth. The hearing had been postponed for a week due to the Chief Judge who was being ill. The prosecutor demanded that Arinze is given the death sentence.
Arinze is believed to be controlling drug distribution when he was held at Salemba Penitentiary through Rojali Pajar and David. He also ordered his girlfriend to make a fake ID in order to receive and conceal the meth shipped from China.
