TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Head of Ciliwung Cisadane River Area (BBWSCC) to the Public Works Ministry Teuku Iskandar said during Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama’s visit to Ciliwung River that the normalization of Ciliwung River has reached 47 percent or nine kilometers of 19km.
“Mr. Governor come to see the condition of Ciliwung River and a number of programs of the central government, Public Works and Housing Ministry, and Jakarta administration to normalize the river which has been initiated since the end of 2013,” Iskandar said in Kampung Pulo on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.
Iskandar said the normalization has been running for three years – which is supposed to be completed by this year – yet the process still encounters several obstacles, like relocating residents since the development of rental flat (rusunawa) has not been completed yet.
The Jakarta administration itself had targeted the program for three years, meaning that it should have been done by the end of this year.
Ahok admitted that the procurement of rental flat became the obstacle in the arrangment, both from the east and south sides. To ease the normalization process, the flat procurement is targeted to be enough for 2,000 householders. “In 2017, we will completely build a flat worth Rp8 billion,” said Ahok, added that the normalization process will continue to be done although is must displace local homes.
The Ciliwung River will be widened to 40-50 meters. Sheetpiles will also be installed along the river.
Luxury houses will also be checked for its ownership. “However, we will still provide flat consignment in order to dismantle the building,” said Ahok.
