Indonesia and Republic of Korea Fortifies Industrial Cooperation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo considers South Korea as a strategic partner that is important to Indonesia in the Asia region. Jokowi stated that trade and investment value between Indonesia and South Korea showed a very significant value.
Jokowi had also invited South Korean investors make investments in several sectors, including infrastructure such as toll roads, harbors, railway development, power plants, and infrastructures in the maritime sector.
On Monday, May 16, 2016, Jokowi held a bilateral meeting with the government of South Korea to extend an invitation to cooperate in developing the creative industry in Indonesia.
"In the bilateral talk, Indonesia expressed its intention to focus on the acceleration of industrialization in Indonesia as well as the development of creative industry, including fashion, film, cinema, and broadcasting," Jokowi stated in a written statement on Tuesday, May 17, 2016.
Other issues discussed during the bilateral meeting includes Indonesia's plan to export fruit to South Korea, and improvement of regional security and eradicating terrorism.
