TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Starting 27 Match 2016, the government will ban the circulation of non-branded cooking oil made of palm oil.
Head of Domestic Trade of Yogyakarta SMEs, Trade and Industry Agency Eko Witoyo said that the ban to sell non-branded cooking oil applies to all producers and business players.
According to Eko, the provision refers to the regulation of the Trade Minister that obliges cooking oil packaged according to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) in order to ensure the hygiene and safety of the product.
The government previously postponed issuing the ban and initially planned to issue the ban in March 2015.
In Yogyakarta province alone, many traders sell non-branded cooking oil, transported from producers in West Java oil tankers.
”We hope that this regulation won’t significantly affect business players,” Eko said on Friday (5/2).
