Indonesia`s Economy Grows 4.79% in 2015

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported on Friday, February 5, 2016 that Indonesia’s economy grew by 4.79 percent. BPS head Suryamin said that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) stood at Rp 11,540.8 trillion (US$$836.3 billion), and the per capita income stood at Rp45.2 million (US$3,377.1).

“The economy grew by 4.79 percent in 2015, slower than that in 2014 at 5.02 percent,” Suryamin said in a press conference in Jakarta on Friday, February 5, 2016.

Suryamin explained that Indonesia’s economy in the fourth quarter of 2015 grew by 5.04 percent compared to the same period last year.

“This is the highest [growth] compared to previous quarters,” Suryamin added.

The BPS recorded economic growths of 4.73 percent in the first quarter of 2015, 4.68 percent in the second quarter and 4.74 percent in the third quarter.

In terms of production, Suryamin added, the highest growth was achieved by the information and communication sector at 10.06 percent. In terms of spending, the highest growth occurred in government’s consumption spending at 5.38 percent.
