TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro said that he would not revise the tax revenue target in the revised 2016 State Budget, although the plummeting oil prices could affect state’s non-tax revenue and income tax from the oil and gas sector.

Bambang said that the target of Rp1,360 trillion (US$98.5 billion) in tax revenue in 2016 would be achieved provided that the implementation of tax amnesty ran smoothly.

“We just met the President, and we convinced him that the tax revenue target is achievable, on a condition that the tax amnesty program is successful,” Bambang said Thursday, February 04, 2016.

However, Bambang admitted that the recently plummeting oil prices would have an impact on tax revenue in January 2016.

“Generally, [the tax revenue dropped] by about Rp2 trillion (US$145 million) due to decreasing income tax from oil and gas and prices,” he added.

In addition to relying on the tax amnesty of which the regulation was about to be finalized, Bambang said that the Finance Ministry would go an extra mile to achieve the target.

Included in ways to achieve the target are law enforcement, extensification, asset revaluation optimization and individual taxpayer reinforcement. Bambang revealed that the fund repatriation scheme for the tax amnesty would be in form of government securities, special securities or state-owned company’s securities and one-month deposits in banks.

“We will provide the instrument. It would be up to them how to do it. They have choices,” Bambang said.
