TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government is currently pursuing revision of Negative Investment List (DNI). One of the proposed revision is relaxing the portion of foreign ownership in film businesses, such as movie theaters, production and film distribution, up to 100 percent.
In response to the proposal, Catherine Keng, corporate secretary of movie cinema chain XXI, said she will accept any government’s decision.
“We believe the government’s decision has been through thorough discussion and will hopefully be the best in the future,” said Catherine.
Catherine said XXI is not threatened by the plan to open opportunities for foreign investors to invest in film business. However, she said XXI has not prepared special strategies to face foreign competitors.
“We are ready to engage in healthy competition,” said Catherine.
