TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-run cement company PT Semen Indonesia said that in order to meet the target of production of up to 100 tons by 2030, it said that it is building plants in several regions in Indonesia and also in the neighboring Vietnam.
“We’re building plants in Rembang, Central Java and in Vietnam,” said Head of Engineering and Construction of PT Semen Indonesia Heru Indrawidjajanto on Thursday (14/1).
Heru also said that besides building plants in Rembang and Vietnam, PT Semen Indonesia is also planning to build plants in Aceh, Papua and East Nusa Tenggara.
“The construction of the plant in Rembang was already 81.6 percent completed by the end of last year and we are ready to operate in 2016,” Heru said, adding that the budget to build the plant reaches Rp4.4 trillion.
In the meantime, Head of Rembang Project Ari Wardhana said that the cement plant in Rembang is expected to produce 3 tons for cement per month to meet demands for cement in Central Java.
“So far, demands for cement in Central Java have been met by supply from Tuban, East Java,” he added.
Ari further said that in 2015, the national demand for cement reached 60 millions tons and in 2016, it is predicted to increase by 6 percent.
