TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Chairman of State-owned Enterprises Commission of House of Representative Achmad Hafisz Thohir said that the business of PT Dirgantara Indonesia will collapse as the result of helicopter orders to foreign companies. He considered the order will systematically weaken the State-owned Enterprises.
According to Achmad, President Joko Widodo should be proud of domestic aircraft industry, instead of turning to foreign manufacturers.
"Moreover we are now fighting against the weakening of foreign exchange and the shrink of balance of trade," said Achmad on the phone, on Sunday, November 29.
Achmad said that there will be no use for Indonesia to promote [itself] to other countries so that they buy PTDI's products if the president himself uses foreignt products instead. "Buying foreign helicopters while our products are put aside means [he] insults national products," he said.
