TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas) predicted that oil production of Cepu Block’s Banyu Urip Field by the end of this year would stand at 130,000 barrels per day, lower that the target set at 165,000 barrels per day.
“The production is expected to be optimal early next year,” SKK Migas head Amien Sunaryadi said at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry’s Office on Friday, November 27.
Amin explained that the situation was caused by a fact that the central production facility had undergone a transition period. As a result, operator Exxon Mobil Cepu Limited was forced to reduce production for the sake of operation safety.
“The production was dropped to 40,000 barrels a day after,” Amien added.
Amien revealed that the transition period would last for two weeks. The production would be increased steadily to 130,000 barrels per day a month later.
The Cepu Block is known as the largest oil producer in the country. As the optimal production was delayed, the SKK Migas was forced to reduce this year’s oil and gas lifting target from 825,000 barrels to 802 barrels per day.
