TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, is disgruntled over illegal settlers of Kampung Pulo who insisted to ask for compensation. He claimed that the city has provided more than what money can compensate.
Ahok explained that Kampung Pulo bunkhouse has cost around Rp 200 million per unit, plus the time it took to finish construction. "If you ask for Rp 50 million, I can give it to you now but I will kick you out."
However, he emphasized that money alone will not solve flood problem in Jakarta. He has concerns that illegal settlers in Kampung Pulo will return to river bank.
Moreover, Ahok claimed that the affordable appartments, with resident asked to pay only Rp 10,000 per day. “It has been subsidized [...] as long as you are staying in it,” he said.
