City to Relocate 105 Street Vendors to Poncol Market

TEMPO.CO, JakartaIn order to uphold public order, the City Administration is about to relocate 105 street vendors and illegal parking on Jalan Bungur, Senen, Central Jakarta. The effort is done as sidewalk and shoulders in that area often misuse as trading as well as illegal parking site.

“I already sent a letter to Central Jakarta Mayor to relocate those street vendors to Poncol Market which there’s a vacant location of PD Jaya,” said Irwandi, Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUKMP) Department, Head Saturday (8/1).

Irwandi added that the presence of street vendors occupying the sidewalk and road in Bungur, Senen, Central Jakarta made connecting road towards Nangka Market, Utan Panjang, Kemayoran is hard to be passed.

“It supposedly smoothly passing toward Nangka Market. That’s why we must clean it up along with Transportation Dept and Mayor,” he explained.

Prior to controlling, his side with Transportation Dept and several local figure will conduct socialization to street vendors. In conjunction with that matter PD Pasar Jaya also asked to provide temporary shelter site inside Poncol Market.

“Starting today, we gonna do the socialization and ask PD Pasar Jaya to provide temporary shelter site in the area of Poncol Market,” he enlightened.

Irwandi acknowledged, the socialization will be conducted up to a week ahead. During the socialization they will find out whether there any guidance trader in Poncol Market selling on verge road.

“The total number of guidance trader in Poncol Market reached 600 people,” he stated.
