TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is slated to induct Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo as the Chief of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and Lt. Gen. Sutiyoso (ret.) as the Chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 - as both candidates have obtained the necessary approvals from the House of Representatives (DPR) to assume the posts.

The inauguration is slated for Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Merdeka Palace. "The event is planned for tomorrow," said the President's Chief of Staff, Luhut Panjaitan at the State Palace on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Luhut also confirmed that both persons are scheduled to be inaugurated tomorrow at the same time.

It is known that Gatot will replace Gen. Moeldoko as TNI Chief, who will be retiring as per August 1, where Sutiyoso is scheduled to replace BIN Chief Lt. Gen. Marciano Norman (ret.)

Prior to this, Gatot - who was born in Tegal, Central Java on March 13, 1960 - held the post as the 30th TNI AD's Chief of Staff, a post he held since July 25, 2014. He was chosen for the post by former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to replace Gen. Budiman.

Gatot graduated from the Military Academy in 1982 - after which he worked his way through the ranks of the Army's Strategic Command Unit (Kostrad). Previously, he had worked as the Commander of TNI-AD's Training Unit, the Commander of the Brawijaya Unit overseeing East Java (Pangdam V/Brawijaya), and the Governor of the Military Academy.

Currently, Gatot is listed as the Chairman of Indonesian Karate Association (PB Forki) for the period of 2014-2018.
