TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan inaugurated the newly renovated Palmerah train station on Monday, July 6, 2015. The Ministry plans to make Palmerah train station as a benchmark for future stations in the capital.
After being renovated into a much larger station, Mardirianto, Deputy Chief of the Palmerah station asserted that the number of passengers will increase to 50 thousand people per day from the previous 14 thousand passengers.
The station is now equipped with lifts, escalators, and connecting bridges. "Soon every train station will be like [Palmerah]," said Mardirianto.
