TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yuddy Chrisnandi, State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reforms Minister, decided to comply with the Vice President's instructions made three days ago, and banned state-owned vehicles from being used to make trips during the Ramadan holiday season - reversing his earlier stance.
"The Vice President's orders should be the benchmark on the matter - unless the President decides to reverse the official position on the matter," said Yuddy at the President's Office on Thursday, July 2, 2015.
Previously, Minister Yuddy had allowed civil servants to use government vehicles to be used to make trips back to their hometowns during the holiday season - a ruling which ratlled not only the State Palace, but also the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
Vice President Kalla said three days ago that some vehicles could be used by government officials at their disposal - but operational vehicles that are not assigned to a particular name or position should never be used for making such trips during the Holiday period. "Unless their position entitles them the right to a vehicle, a car owned by the state should not be used to make trips of that nature," Kalla said.
