TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spokesman of the Democrat Party, Ruhut Sitompul, said that his party is open towards the notion of President Joko Widodo’s joining the coalition. Ruhut said that the Dems has been supporting development in Jokowi’s administration.
"We will allow Jokowi to take our best cadres," Ruhut told Tempo on Sunday June 28. Ruhut said that the party will not ask of ministerial posts to President, as it is pure presidential prerogative right.
Ruhut claimed that communication between the Dems and Jokowi is relatively good. "Jokowi came to our national congress in Surabaya earlier this year," he said.
Previously, Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Ahmad Basarah, opened up opportunities of politicians from non-government coalition to join the working cabinet in order to maintain national political stability.
"President needs to consider supports from other political parties beyond Indonesia Hebat Coalition in order to gain significant support and maintain political stability," said Ahmad.
