TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indobarometer political survey institute observer M. Qodari predicted that cabinet reshuffle would not be realized in the near future due to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s leadership style.
“Jokowi is not a confrontational type. So, it would be impossible to expect him to mirror Prabowo [Subianto], who is assertive and frontal,” Qodari said in a discussion on Saturday, June 27, 2015 in Jakarta.
Qodari predicted that Jokowi’s method to reshuffle his cabinet would be similar to the way he handled street vendors in Solo who refused to be relocated. In other words, Qodari added, Jokowi would go through a lengthy lobby to influence the target of his policies.
Qodari said that Jokowi conducted his lobbies by inviting street vendors to several occasions of lunch to reduce the tension.
“There is a possibility that his invitation to break fasting was his strategy to carry out the reshuffle plan,” Qodari said.
Qodari believes that cabinet reshuffle would be realized sooner or later, since the indicators for the reshuffle have been apparent, including several ministers who failed to achieve short-term target.
