TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Bandung Mayor Ridwan "Emil" Kamil said that Australian economist has provided him with an input, saying that the Bandung-Jakarta bullet train will boost the city's economy.
"An Australian economist told me that the economy of Bandung would grow eight to nine percent," Emil said on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the Bandung City Hall.
Emil added that the city's economy will not improve unless the city administration revamps its public transportation.
Another economist from the United States, Emil said, suggested that the answer to the issue related to the city's economic growth is the bullet train. With a 30-minute travel time from Jakarta to Bandung, Emil explained, the distribution of goods will be five times faster.
Earlier, Emil said that Chinese investors were interested in the government's plan to develop the bullet train project.
"President [Joko Widodo] is currently reviewing the technology offered by China. We just need to sit tight and wait for the results," Emil said earlier on March 24, 2015.
