RI Targets Two Million Visitors at 2015 WEM

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Trade Ministry targets Paviliun Indonesia at the World Expo Milano (WEM) in Milan, Italy on May 1-October 31, 2015 can lure two million visitors.
“This target can hopefully improve Indonesia’s trade with Italy and European Union (EU) countries,” said Ari Satria, the director of market development and export information at the Trade Ministry.
Indonesia’s total trade to Italy in the past five years has experienced positive growth at 2.67 percent and reached US$4 billion. Until February 2015, Indonesia gained surplus of US$7.78 million with exports hitting US$6.12 million.
Exports to Italy are dominated by crude and refined palm oil, followed by coal, coffee and textile products, respectively. There are 145 countries participating in the WEM.
WEM is a world-level exhibit held every five years by the International Exhibitions Bureau. This exhibition is expected to attract 20 million visitors.
Besides exhibition, other events at the WEM include business forums and business matching.
