TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Imam Nahrawi has prepared strategies to anticipate possible sanction imposed by FIFA to the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) after the Ministry freeze PSSI.
“Not just freezing it, we (Menpora) have been warned by FIFA over alleged intervention,” said Deputy V of Harmonization and Partnership of the Youth and Sports Ministry, Gatot S. Dewa Broto when contacted via phone call on Saturday, April 18.
However, Gatot remains unsure whether FIFA will eventually impose the freeze sanction to PSSI.
“There must be risks, but clearly we have prepared the scenario,” Gatot added.
Gatot further explain that the Ministry will send letter to FIFA to explain the reasons why the government freezes PSSI, wether or not it is asked by FIFA.
The decision to freeze PSSI was taken after three warning letters sent were not taken seriously by the PSSI. The warning letters were sent to urge PSSI mediating agreement between Arema Cronus and Persebaya with the Indonesian Professional Sports Agency (BOPI).
