Batik Air Makes Emergency Landing After Receiving Bomb Threat

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Batik Air aircraft serving the Ambon-Jakarta route was forced to land at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar on Friday, April 17, 2015, at around 7:20 am Central Indonesia Time (6:20 am Jakarta time).
The immediate landing was carried out after officials of the Ambon Air Traffic Control received a short text message saying that the plane was loaded with bombs.
"Ten minutes before the plane lands in Makassar, the pilot informed [the airport ATC officer] that there was some kind of operational trouble," said Bambang Suherman, one of the passenger aboard the aircraft to Tempo through a phone call.
After the plane had landed, the passengers were immediately evacuated to a waiting room while personnel from the bomb disposal unit rushed in to investigate the aircraft. Up until this news was written, the investigation is currently ongoing.
