Bandung Mayor Reveals Jakarta-Bandung Bullet Train Project

TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil said that the city administration and State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno discussed a development of bullet train project connecting Jakarta and Bandung.
“The project development will be set in motion next year,” Ridwan told Tempo at Paris Van Java on Friday, March 20, 2015.
According to Ridwan, the project development will involve a consortium of state-owned enterprises.
Ridwan explained that the project was aimed at boosting economic growth in the two cities by accelerating the travel time from and to each other. Currently, the time to reach Bandung from Jakarta is two hours without traffic.
The mayor said the project will be financed by a consortium of financial institutions, which comprise national banks. However, he shortstopped to specify the project further and said that he will handle the project’s preparation in Bandung.
“Please ask [State-Owned Enterprises] Minister about the technicalities,” Ridwan said.
