TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After imposing ban on catching and selling of lobster and crabs, Minister of Maritime and Fisheries Affairs Susi Pudjiastuti is now going to impose ban on the selling of milkfish fingerlings.

Saut Parulian Hutagulung, Director General of Processing and Marketing of Fishery Products of the Maritime and Fisheries Affairs Ministry said that the ban is still being prepared.

"Minister Susi said that such ban would be imposed,” Saut said on Friday, February 27, 2015.

Saut added that so far the Philippines is one of the countries with a leading milkfish industry, with the investment of milkfish in the country being one of the most modern one.

However, he said that the fingerlings are reportedly from Indonesia and if supply of milkfish fingerlings were stopped, the effect to the milkfish industry in the country would be felt in the second half of 2015.

Saut also said that export of milkfish fingerlings to several other countries would also be stopped.
