TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – National Police deputy chief Comr. Gen Badrodin Haiti said Monday he would mull ceasing the investigation into cases implicating Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) staffers and leaders.
The decision was made after the KPK handed over the investigation into Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan to the Attorney General's Office (AGO) and the National Police.
According to Badrodin, the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (Bareskrim) was investigating nine cases involving KPK staffers, among them the abuse of authority allegedly committed by the KPK enforcement deputy's team by raising Budi's case status from initial investigation to investigation.
The National Police are also investigating the legality of KPK investigators’ gun ownerships and document forgery supposedly committed by suspended KPK chief Abraham Samad.
Another case probed by the police involved suspended KPK deputy chief Bambang Widjojanto, who was suspected of ordering witnesses to commit perjury in a trial in which he was one of the lawyers.
Police investigators are also looking into the suspected assault leading to the death of a suspect that involved KPK investigator Novel Baswedan.
