TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lawyer of National Police chief candidate Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan, Fredrick Yunadi questioned the legality of the summons letter sent by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
According to Frederick, the summons process to his client could not be based on a letter signed by someone who claimed to become an investigator.
"If he is no longer a police officer, how come he claim as an investigator,” Frederick said on Saturday, January 31, 2015.
He also said that the legality of an investigator must refer to the Government Regulation Number 58 of 201.
The provision in the regulation, he said, states requirements to appoint an investigator, among others he has to graduate from criminal investigation school and has to obtain an appointment letter from head of a resort police.
"In the near future, the police will take a legal action against those who claim as investigators,” Frederick said.
Frederick further said that it was the legality of the letter that made Budi Gunawan ignore KPK’s summons for questioning.
