TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Culture and Primary and Secondary Education Minister Anies Baswedan targets to apply the 2013 curriculum to all schools in 2018. After the issuance of the Education Minister Regulation No. 160/2014 on the implementation of the 2006 and 2013 Curriculum, only 6,221 schools are able to apply the 2013 curriculum while the rest will return to the 2006 curriculum.

“Around 6,000 schools will become pioneers,” said Anies on Tuesday. The ministry is currently preparing the system so that all schools will be ready by 2018.

One of the systems to be carried out is the exchange method, where teachers from pioneer schools will be sent to schools that are still adopting the 2006 curriculum. On the contrary, teachers from schools with 2006 curriculum will be sent to pioneer schools.

This method aims at educating the teachers on the curriculum system. “After that, they will be given quality improvement training,” said Anies. The training consists of understanding toward the 2013 curriculum and good educational pattern.

Anies also pledged to fix the book procurement system, especially in terms of distribution so that there will be no reports of late distribution. “The contents of the books must also be improved because some of them are inappropriate,” he said. This system will be evaluated every year.
