Jakarta Govt to Build Mini Power Plants to Save Electricity

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Administration is going to build mini power plants with gas fuel in order to conserve energy use and reduce dependence on the State-owned electricity company PT PLN (PLN), Antara News reported.
The mini power plant which is like an engine generator will be used in the buildings of City Council (DPRD) and City Hall as test sites.
"We will be heading to the reliability of electricity in Jakarta. By so, we realize the mini power plants. This is the hope of Mr. Governor," said Head of Jakarta Industry and Energy Department, Haris Pindratno.
As for the initial phase, he plans to test out the devices at the DPRD and City Hall buildings, as well as street light along Jalan Kebon Sirih, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
