TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The provincial government of Jakarta will be holding a Jakarta Night Festival event to welcome the celebration of New Year 2015.  The event is scheduled to be held from M.H. Thamrin street up to the National Monument.

For the residents of Jakarta and the surroundings who has made plans to enjoy New Year’s Eve in the city should be prepared due to several traffic to be diverted, specifically in South Jakarta.

Chief of South Jakarta Police Resort Traffic Unit, Ajun Kombes Sutimin, said that the traffic diversion will be in form of opening and closing roads and ban cars from passing certain roads.  “To avoid congestions,” Sutimin told Tempo on Sunday, December 28.

Several traffic to be diverted are from Senayan to Pattimura and vice versa.  Pakubuwono street, Senopati and Sudirman Central Business District.  Casablanca street, Setiabudi and Panglima Polim.

The diversions, Sutimin said, are an effort to secure the Jakarta Night Festival area, so the event will be sterilized from any kind of vehicles.

Sutimin said that his department will be deploying 250 police personnels to engineer roads, however, those personnels will not be deployed at once, but in shifts.
