TEMPO.CO, New York - After spending 20 years as a professional footballer, French legend and New York Red Bulls striker Thierry Henry decided to retire. Henry will then take on a role as sports commentator at Sky Sports.
Speaking to BBC, Henry said his football career had been a remarkable journey. Henry also thanked his former clubs and fellow footballers in AS Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal, Barcelona, New York Red Bulls, and French National Team.
Henry began his career in AS Monaco in 1994. Casting his luck outside France, Henry joined Juventus in a failed attempt. Henry’s star started to bloom when he joined Arsenal, in which he helped all titles but Champions League.
King Henry, as he was called in his days in London, booked 226 goals from 369 appearances.
As with the National Team, the Frenchman won two prestigious trophies: World Cup 1998 and Euro Cup 2000. With Les Bleus, Henry scored 51 goals in 123 international matches.
