TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Secretary General of Express Delivery Service Association, Post and Indonesian Logistic, Amir Syamsuddin, said that the ban policy on motorcycles passing through protocol roads would potentially cause losses for entrepreneurs.
Amir forecasted the loss in the business sector could reach Rp190 trillion. “This will disrupt the economy,” Amir said in a statement on Tuesday, December 16.
Amir explained that over 190 logistic shipping companies are operating in the areas of Jakarta. Around 80 percent of them use motorcycle couriers. 190 of those companies handle logistic deliveries throughout the nation. “This 80 percent is connected to 15,000 workers,” Amir said.
Other impact will be the delay in document delivery, Amir said. Packages delivery that normally takes a day to deliver could take up to three until four days of shipment.
“Document distribution to offices will be slower.”
“Many offices are unable to be reached through various paths, such as in Plaza Senayan for example.”
