TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – National Anti-Narcotics Agency deputy chief Bachtiar Hasanudin Tambunan said the agency had ridded Kampung Ambon area of narcotics. According to him, there used to be some particular shanties used by drug dealers to sell narcotics, complete with price lists.
“Now 42 shanties have been closed, one sealed with a police line, and 41 others transformed into stalls for small businesses,” he said on Thursday, November 27, 2014.
BNN’s Urban Society Enforcement Sub Directorate chief Ali Azhar seconded Bachtiar statement, explaining that there were some three percent of the drug dealers in the area who attempted to continued their illicit business. “But they have been nabbed by the police,” he said.
The police are still keeping a close watch on the area, with 24-hour CCTVs monitored by all six police stations in West Jakarta.
“If there are suspicious newcomers, the police will question them,” he said.
