TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Yuddy Chrisnandi highlighted the large number of staff at the Bekasi administration, with 18,000 people comprising of 12,500 civil servants, 429 civil servant candidates and 5,000 contract workers.
“Based on the number, it’s a ‘fat’ administration,” Yuddy said on Friday, November 21, 2014.
According to Yuddy the large number of staff was inefficient and not balanced compared to the number of Bekasi City residents at 2.4 million. Ideally, Yuddy said, the ratio of the city administration staff compared to the number of the residents was 1:1,000.
Yuddy said the moratorium on civil-servant recruitment would be started from January, 1, 2014. However, the moratorium would not be enforced in education and health sectors.
“Civil-servant recruitment is still allowed for doctors, nurses, midwives, teachers, as well as city planning staff,” Yuddy said.
